Jenny's New Car

Jenny was in a little car crash about two weeks ago. She is fine. The baby is fine. Her vehicle was declared a total loss by our insurance.

Today we bought her a car. It is a Honda Accord.

I made a pizza tonight with ground lamb and fresh peppers. I just might eat the whole thing.

Uncle John's Certified Organic Bathroom Reader

So, back in 2008, I somehow got in contact with an editor who works for the Bathroom Reader people. I wrote an article on the history of the Environmental Protection Agency. They bought it for the new environmental book they were working on.

Anyway, the book came out a couple months ago, but I hadn't mentioned it here yet.

The individual articles in the book don't name the authors. I am just credited on the Thank You page (which I knew would happen).

So, you can find it in Borders and Barnes & Noble if you are interested. If you don't want to buy it, just read the EPA article, which starts on page 255!

I am a hobby farmer.

Some of our harvest:

The first picture is a Dragon Carrot. It is reddish-purple on the outside and yellowish-orange on the inside.

The second picture is a San Marzano Roma tomato.

Homemade Pesto

I made a batch of pesto this weekend. I planted a lot of basil plants, which grow really well here. So, to use up the abundant basil, I have made homemade pesto a few times. I keep one container out for use, and then freeze the others. In the bottom of the food processor you can see olive oil, nuts, garlic, and cheese.

Glenwood Cemetery

I had today off, so I grabbed my camera and went looking for something interesting.

I wandered around Glenwood Cemetery for a few hours.

A lot of big Houston names are resting here:
George R Brown
George Hermann
William P Hobby
Howard Hughes
F A Rice
John L Wortham

If you pay attention, you will notice these names on a Houston airport, a university, and a bunch of other buildings.

And I love that tree.

John's Seattle Photos

John (Jenny's Dad) just posted a bunch of photos online. He recently visited Seattle, where Laura (Jenny's older sister) lives. For those readers who know John or Laura, you might enjoy them.
