Glenwood Cemetery

I had today off, so I grabbed my camera and went looking for something interesting.

I wandered around Glenwood Cemetery for a few hours.

A lot of big Houston names are resting here:
George R Brown
George Hermann
William P Hobby
Howard Hughes
F A Rice
John L Wortham

If you pay attention, you will notice these names on a Houston airport, a university, and a bunch of other buildings.

And I love that tree.

Thanks for posting. That is an amazing tree. What kind is it? Oak?

I try to spend a lot of time outdoors, but I can't identify trees at all. I haven't ever paid enough attention.

Jenny thinks it is closely related to the Whomping Willow from the Harry Potter series.

It is a live oak:
"The Live Oak AllĂ©e that lines Houston’s Main Street represents a comprehensive vision of how a well-developed, civic landscape plan can survive despite nearly 100 years of change and development"

Mary says it's the Tree of Life.
