"Avila National Park
Overlooking the federal capital of Caracas, the green hills of Avila National Park extend 120 miles along the coast like a natural wall separating the city from the sea. The park is popular with walkers, hikers, explorers and day trippers.
It has a mix of hills, mountains, cloud forests and waterfalls, with plenty of wildlife including tigers, jaguars, pumas and snakes.

I'm not sure if the reason this park was not mentioned is because is located on the edge of the city and not right on the center...

As always a fascinating article. I love the things you get interested in. For your information Portland, OR also has a huge park, known as forest Park. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_Park_(Portland).
