Kayaking on the LSU Lakes in 2013

I made a video of some of my kayaking in 2013. I kept the clips short, so that I bore as few people as possible. You can watch it here in HD. Make sure you click on HD at the bottom of the video.

Birthday Tool

I gave Mariana a little kid-sized saw for her birthday.

She will keep it out in the woodshop, in the toolbox we made. She will only use it while I am supervising. In fact, she has used my saws already, so I'm not really worried.

But apparently Mom is worried. I like these photos and the expressions on both of their faces.

Also, years from now, Mariana will be able to look at these pictures and realize how weird it is that her dad gave her a saw for her fourth birthday. Right now, she has no idea.

Wood Star Ornament

I made a star ornament out of maple and walnut. It is finicky to hand cut the angles and fit them together with no gaps, but you get the hang of it. I did it once before.

It Is A Boy

On Friday, we found out the baby is a boy. We plan to name him Kevin Meynink Scott.

Asheville Thanksgiving

We stayed in a little cabin outside Asheville, North Carolina, for a Thanksgiving vacation. Cold weather hit just as we arrived, but we made the best of it. It warmed up the last two days of our time there, but we never did get to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. The section of it near us was closed. We still had a great time in Asheville and at our cabin.
