Wooden Presents

These are some presents I made. I took them to Iowa to give to my brothers' kids.

A herd of elephants, made of poplar. It is a pull toy.

A magic coin bank, made of maple. You put a coin in the little drawer hole and close it. The coin is gone when you re-open the drawer.

A pencil box, made of oak and padauk. The lid slides out one end.

Back From Iowa

I took everyone to Iowa for Thanksgiving. This picture shows Mariana at my parents house on Thanksgiving Day.

We made it back to Texas today.

She is my number one fan.

Rocky Raccoon 25k

This morning I drove up to Huntsville State Park and ran the Rocky Raccoon 25K trail race. 25 kilometers is about 15.5 miles.

Jenny took this photo of me just before I crossed the finish line.

I hadn't ever run this distance before. My longest training run ever was 13.1 miles, and my longest race was a 10k (6.2 miles).
