Earlier this month, during our trip to Fredericksburg, Jenny and I took many photos of the wildflowers that were starting to bloom.

Magic!

Last night, there was a special event at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. After they closed for the day, and locked the doors to the general public, they allowed a group of photographers into their new special exhibit: Magic. Normally, no photography is allowed in the special exhibits. So, I couldn't have taken these photos at any other time.

It was fun. I like some of the photos I took and I was able to hang out in a museum at night for a few hours.

Crumpets, Scones, & Soup

homemade crumpets

I'm sure most people come to this site just to see photos of Mariana, but I have been pretty proud of my cooking lately. So, here are more food pictures.

The top picture is from a batch of crumpets I made recently. Jenny loves them, and keeps asking for more.

Below, I made more scones last night - blueberry this time.

At the bottom, you can see the avocado soup I made tonight. It is served chilled.

Fredericksburg Trip

Jenny and I took a couple days off and had a four day weekend. We drove out to Fredericksburg, TX. Fredericksburg is a small town in central Texas. The area was settled by Germans in the 1800s, and that heritage is obvious.

We ate German food at each dinner - sausages, snitzels, hefeweizen, and sauerkraut. Each day we strolled around town and drove country roads taking pictures of wildflowers.

If you ever go, we recommend:

Where we stayed - Austin Street Retreat
Great pastries - Rather Sweet Bakery & Cafe
Best coffee - Fredericksburg Coffee & Tea
Our favorite restaurant - The Auslander Restaurant and Biergarten
