Frosty

One of the reasons I wanted a Miniature Schnauzer was that my family had some as pets when I was younger. This is a picture of one of them as a young puppy. We called him Frosty.

By the way, I don't know what year that couch was made, but that was some amazing upholstery.

Quincy & Aurora

A bunch of family came over today to meet our puppy, Quincy, and see the new house.

Quincy

I promised Jenny that once we were settled into our house and our jobs we could get a puppy.

Today, Jenny and I bought a Miniature Schnauzer. There were a lot of 8 week old puppies running around, but we really liked this guy. He is 15 weeks old.

We named him Quincy.

The Move - Final Chapter

Hello again everyone.

Sorry for the long silence. It took us a while to get folks out here to hook up the internet, but as you can see we up and running again.

The house is coming along nicely. We are pretty much unpacked and set. The only things left to do are to hang pictures and final touches here and there. We have been working very hard the last few days getting things put away, it feels good to be nearly done. Everyday this week people have been coming and going fixing, installing, and hooking up. Today were the sprinklers and internet. The last thing left to be installed will be a drinking water filter under the kitchen sink, which should happen early next week.

Once we have our pictures on the wall I'll post pictures of the new house. If you would like to see a picture mom took of us in front of the house link to Maria's Blog.

The Move - Part III

Happy Friday!

Yesterday evening I arrived in Houston. It felt very good to be done with such a long drive. Yesterday morning, Ted did close on the house and he and I spent our first night in the new house together.

Today is mainly running around getting utilities switch to our name. A call from Jack the truck driver informed me that our household things were in Kansas and we were still looking good for delivery on Sunday.

Update from the Road

Just to let everyone know, I have made it Salina, KS. I should be able to easily make to Houston tomorrow. Today was a very long 13-hour day on the road and I am grateful for the rest.

Good night everyone.

The Move - Part II

The movers were here all day yesterday packing up the house. Today they were here bright and early at 7:30 to load the truck. The plan looks like when they leave early this afternoon I will take off and try to make to Ogden, UT. I hope to drive about ten hours each day and make it to Houston Thursday night or Friday morning.

The closing is still on for Thursday morning, so I should be able to go straight to the house.

Jack the truck driver, expects to be arriving in Houston on Sunday. It will be nice to settled.

The Work Week & Our Freakishly Large House

I just finished my first week of regular employment since October of last year. I think that Lyondell is going to work out well.

This morning, I visited our freakishly large house. The last minute changes are going in. The backyard was sodded, the new front door installed, and another fence gate installed. All that is left is the delivery of the appliances. Everything is on schedule for our closing on Thursday, July 17th. The movers will be showing up with our things on Saturday.

Last weekend I flew out to Seattle to visit family.

Friday we all met at Elizabeth's and Paul's house. We had a full house there: Laura, Ellis, and Katherine, Donna and Ellis (Ellis' parents), Regina (Ellis' sister), Kathryn, Dan, John Clair and Jacob, Charlotte and Roy, Karen (Kathryn's best friend) and her daughter Kathryn, Elizabeth and Paul and Paul's sister. We had a great food and enjoyed each others company.

Saturday I was able to spend the day with Laura and her family. We had a good time hanging out and playing Wii tennis. Katherine is growing up so fast. She was running all over place keeping her grandmother busy chasing after her.

On Sunday I was able to go with Kathryn and Dan to Seattle Mennonite Church. They gave a talk about their work and experiences in Chad. It was wonderful hearing about their day to day life and how they feel being in Africa. It was great being able to catch up with them.

I left very early Monday morning and I give a special thanks to Paul for getting up so early and driving my to the airport. It was a wonderful time.

Houston Arrival

I arrived in Houston last night. The road trip went fine. I drove 2000 miles in a day and a half. All 13 of the potted plants survived.

Today I visited our new house. I hadn't actually seen it until now. It is pretty awesome. Kudos to Jenny, who did the initial house search while she was down here for her Exxon interview. On Monday I am going to schedule the closing. I hope we can make it happen on or before the 15th.

The Move Has Begun

Good morning family and friends. Our move started today with Ted leaving for the long drive to Houston.

He left early this morning with a car full of plants, all our CFL's, and some clothes.

The movers will probably be here at the end of next week, then I will start my drive down.

Ted will start his new job on Monday. We are both very excited about getting settled and stable.

Happy Fourth of July! I will be spending the weekend with family in Seattle. I am flying out tomorrow morning.
Have a great weekend everyone!
